Goodman Financial Unveils New Chief Investment Officer: Robin Kollannur, CFA
Houston, TX – August 25, 2025 – Goodman Financial Corporation is thrilled to announce that Robin R. Kollannur, CFA, has joined the firm as Chief Investment Officer, succeeding Chris Matlock, CPA, CFA, who is retiring after eight years of exceptional service. While Goodman Financial bids a grateful farewell to Chris’s leadership and investment acumen, Robin will now don the Chief Investment Officer cape to guide the firm’s investment team with a heroic blend of experience and vision.
Robin earned his MBA from the University of Houston (go Coogs!) and a BA from Texas A&M University. After a successful stretch in Florida, he returns to Texas to answer the call from Goodman Financial. He will lead the firm’s investment strategy, manage the investment committee, and ensure our clients’ portfolios remain well-positioned to meet their long-term financial goals.
But make no mistake – Robin is no sidekick. With over three decades of investment experience battling market volatility and slaying inefficiencies, he’s a seasoned hero in the financial world. Robin previously served as CIO of Northern Trust Value Investors, held senior positions at Rothschild Asset Management and Brandes Investment Partners, and co-founded multiple successful investment firms.
“While Batman is still protecting Gotham City, we secured the more dynamic member of the duo—Robin,” said Steve Goodman, Founder and President of Goodman Financial. “He brings exceptional experience, hometown pride, and a heroic level of dedication. Robin exemplifies the qualities we look for in a leader—experience, integrity, and a client-first mindset”
As for Chris Matlock, the firm salutes his years of unwavering service and wishes him a well-earned retirement. The utility belt of investment wisdom now passes to Robin, who will continue Goodman Financial’s mission of ‘Doing Good, Helping People, and Providing Peace of Mind’.
In announcing his retirement, Chris reflected on more than three decades in the industry, including the past eight years at Goodman Financial Corporation. “After over 30 years in the business, I feel the timing is right,” he said. “The company is in an excellent position, and I am delighted with the hiring of Robin to succeed me. During my tenure, it has been immensely rewarding to help the firm double its assets under management. With the robust systems we have implemented and the exceptional team we have assembled, I am confident Goodman Financial will continue to thrive and deliver outstanding service to its clients.”
In retirement, Chris looks forward to spending time with his five grandchildren, engaging more deeply in volunteer work, and enjoying one of his favorite pastimes—fishing.
