28 Years of Supporting the Community

 In GFC News

While as a firm we support philanthropic endeavors throughout the year, in November of each year we make it a team effort and ask each team member to recommend charities for the firm to contribute to on their behalf. The process involves having each team member give thought to the organization(s) that they would like us to support and puts them in a grant maker’s shoes. Once all the names are in, we convene the group and go around the room, each sharing the charity of choice and why they support the charity. This process allows for the team at Goodman Financial to become more familiar with different organizations as well as the individual passions of each team member. This approach can work not only in organizational settings, but for family units, possibly sharing each others interests around the Thanksgiving table.

For 2016, Goodman Financial issued checks for the staff recommended grants as follows:

  • The A21 Campaign
  • Ani-Meals on Wheels
  • Hatch Youth
  • Houston Food Bank
  • Lighthouse of Houston
  • Meals on Wheels
  • Memorial Park Conservancy
  • Prison Entrepreneurship Program
  • Rosary Hill Home
  • St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church
  • TAMUK Foundation
  • Water for Ishmael
  • Women’s Resources of Greater Houston

In addition to these staff recommended organizations, during 2016, Goodman Financial Corporation also provided support to:
